Recently,
we've gotten several emails
with questions about ear
care and anal glands. Both
of those should be checked
often. We bathe our dogs
weekly and in every session
we check ears and anal
glands. We always clean ears
and sometimes have to
express the anal glands.
This preventive care can
save lots of money in vet
bills. You will want to
check out this article:
Why Is My Dog
Dragging His Bottom?
The ears should be
cleaned with a good
general cleaner. Ear
Care™ Ear Cleaner & Ear
Wax Remover
is a Bio-Groom
product that is a
Veterinary preparation,
fortified with Boric and
Salicyclic Acid, that
thoroughly cleans the
ear canals of dogs and
cats. It dissolves ear
wax buildup in 1
application. It is mild
and gentle and will not
leave the ear canal
oily, sticky or gummy.
DIRECTIONS:
Shake well. Use 8 to 10
drops of Ear-Care in
each ear, treating one
ear at the time. Gently
massage the ears for 30
- 60 seconds, until dirt
and wax are dissolved.
(For large dogs increase
dosage). Allow your pet
to shake its head to
dispel accumulation.
For best results swab
ears with cotton. Clean
ears with Ear-Care at
least twice a month.
Use before or after
swimming. Should your
dog or cat have a
painful ear condition or
discharge from the ears,
see your veterinarian.

Great Response to
Flint River Ranch
Dog Food
Several
Westie lovers
have already
ordered
Flint River
Ranch Dog Food.
One Pomeranian
breeder says her
dogs love it.
One Cavalier
King Charles
owner says he
dances around
waiting for his
meal. It appears
to be a very
good natural
food and we have
really been
pleased. It is a
little pricey,
but it does not
have all the
preservatives,
chemicals, and
dyes that the
store brands
have because
they have a
shelf life of
12-14 months.
Flint River
Ranch is
delivered to
your door,
straight from
the ovens. The
cost of 20lb
Lamb Meal,
Millet Rice Dog
Kibble is
$41.18 (tax and
shipping
included). I
would appreciate
it if you use
Distributor
#123045 when you
purchase.
Please give us
feedback on how
your dog is
adjusting to the
change.

Dear Thomas,
"She's

Who does

I
answered,
"Well, I
do it
myself."
If you

you may

You make

WHY ALL
FEMALE
DOGS
SHOULD
BE
SPAYED
Mammary
Cancer
Prevention
A
female
dog
spayed
before
her
first
heat
will
have
a
near
zero
chance
of
developing
mammary
cancer.
After
the
first
heat,
this
incidence
climbs
to
7%
and
after
the
second
heat
the
risk
is
25%
(one
in
four!).
It
is
easy
to
see
that
an
early
spay
can
completely
prevent
what
is
frequently
a
very
difficult
and
potentially
fatal
form
of
cancer.
But
is
it
too
late
if a
dog
is
already
past
her
second
heat?
No,
in
fact
spaying
is
important
even
in
female
dogs
who
already
have
obvious
tumors.
This
is
because
many
mammary
tumors
are
stimulated
by
estrogens;
removing
the
ovaries,
the
source
of
estrogens,
will
help
retard
tumor
spread.
Spaying
removes
both
the
uterus
and
both
ovaries
and
is
crucial
in
the
prevention
as
well
as
the
treatment
of
mammary
cancer.

Homemade
Dog
Food
Menu
We
believe
that
Flint
River
Ranch
Dog
Food
is
one
of
the
best
on
the
market.
We
like
it
because
of
the
lack
of
preservatives,
chemicals,
dyes,
etc.,
that
is
in
the
store
brands. The
shelf
life
of
store
brands
is
12-14
months.
We
are
also
experimenting
with
a
homemade
dog
food.
We
have
found
that
it
is
very
time
consuming
and
quite
costly.

What are
the
Health
Benefits
to
Neutering
Your
Dog?
There
are
several
health
benefits
to
neutering.
One
of
the
most
important
concerns
the
prostate
gland,
which
under
the
influence
of
testosterone
will
gradually
over
the
course
of
the
dog's
life.
In
age,
it
is
likely
to
become
uncomfortable,
possibly
being
large
enough
to
interfere
with
defecation.
The
prostate
under
the
influence
of
testosterone
is
also
predisposed
to
infection,
which
is
almost
impossible
to
clear
up
without
neutering.
Neutering
causes
the
prostate
to
shrink
into
insignificance,
thus
preventing
both
prostatitis
as
well
as
the
uncomfortable
benign
hyperplasia
(enlargement)
that
occurs
with
aging.
It
is
often
erroneously
held
that
neutering
prevents
prostate
cancer
but
this
is
not
true.

Treating
Acute
Diarrhea
And
Chronic
Diarrhea
in Dogs
Dogs
commonly
develop
acute
diarrhea.
Because we
are all
concerned
about our
dog's
welfare, we
often run
them in to
see the
veterinarian
at the first
signs of
diarrhea.
This is
usually not
necessary,
and often
will end up
being
detrimental
to the dog
if
antibiotics
are
needlessly
prescribed.
Chronic
diarrhea is
less common,
but is more
serious and
will require
more effort
to
correct. <<MORE>>
