 We hope this Thanksgiving Season is a delightful experience for you and your family. It is a reminder of how thankful we should be every day of our lives. We live in the greatest nation in the world. We have privileges and opportunities that many in other parts of the world can only imagine! I'm thankful for my family. I am thankful for our health. I even thank God often for these little bad Westies that take up such a huge part of our lives, whether it is a joyride, a day's venture, or a vacation trip where they take their place and enjoy it all with us.
As you gather with family this Thanksgiving, be sure to take a moment to remind each other of all the blessings that are ours. Remember, those blessings come to us because of God's grace, mercy, and love. I'm thankful for God's blessings!

We continue to hear from many families who keep us updated on their pups (now adults). We really miss the joy of the pups and pregnant moms and all that goes into caring for them. Linda especially misses that. Send us pictures and a note and we'll post it on the Friends Page for 30 days. They don't have to be a Down South Westie, just a Westie.

Has Canidae Changed Their All Life Stages Dog Food Formula?

Several months ago, I heard that Canidae had changed their formula for their Canidae All Life Stages dog food. I shot off an email, and in a day or so got a reply that said they had not changed their formula nor had the company been sold. I told them that I no longer use Canidae because I had to have it shipped in and we can't eat their minimum order of 250 lbs fast enough before it goes stale, but I do recommend Canidae on our website to those who have it available in their area. I was assured nothing had changed.
I got a phone call from one of our families this week wanting to know of our recommendation because their dogs were getting sick from the "new Canidae  formula" and would not eat it. One of them wound up in the hospital and the vet said the only thing they could figure out is that it might be the "food".
We often have people email and ask for food recommendations. I know that most of us would rather buy a good quality dog food locally so we don't have to have it shipped in. That is why we no longer use Canidae. We currently use NATURAL CHOICE Chicken, Rice & Oatmeal Formula (for sensitive stomachs) and our dogs enjoy it. We buy it locally at PetSmart. Our dogs have been on this formula for 2 years and we never have problems with them being sick from the food or not eating. They seen to enjoy it.
I am still unclear as to what formulas have changed at Canidae. Their website introduces a new line and I could find nothing on their site to indicate one way or the other if the original All Life Stages formula has changed.
