1.  What Christmas Means To Us!

Christmas is always a special time!  A busy time!  A family time!  This is one time of year when the world is reminded that God in love and mercy came to us in the form of a baby to seek and to save the lost.  Hope entered a world of darkness.  Joy entered a world of sorrow. There is probably no better opportunity all year to present Jesus to people than Christmas time.  Even some of the hardened hearts seem a little more open.

Luke 2

4So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Shepherds and the Angels

8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

1Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

2.  Chloe's New Litter!

Miss Chloe had her pups on Tuesday, November 29. in the wee hours of the morning.  The first pup was born at 1 AM and the last pup at 6 AM.  She is such a sweet and loving mom and always takes such special care of her pups.  Her pups are already booked by those on our wait list.  Chloe is the Alpha dog in our pack and all the other dogs know she is in charge...More!

3. Gigi's New Litter!

Gigi, one of our dogs from Scotland, is also expecting and should have pups on Sunday coming, December 4.  Gigi is the smallest of our Westies.  More!

4. Darby Is King!

Of course, Darby is King!  He just prances around and lets those girls do their thing and he never fusses with them.  They all love him and he is the one they all prefer to play with.  Often, we receive requests to use Darby as stud.  We are very careful in doing so because we do not want our name to be associated with anyone who does not take breeding seriously.  We require a stud fee, vet records, proof of health, pedigree info, spay/neuter contract, and Limited Registration for the pups.   More!

5.  Westie Rescue!

People involved in Westie Rescue deserve our thanks!  Animal rescue has been brought to the forefront mainly because of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  Louisiana Westie Rescue is an organization dedicated to providing medical needs and adoption services for abandoned, abused, and neglected West Highland White Terriers. They come from homes that can no longer care for them for various reasons, shelters, and puppymill situations.

The stories have been very moving as many people have been involved in rescue as well as making way for all of the animals that have been placed in various locations awaiting their owners.  Many of these pets will never be claimed.  Thanks to all of those who have tirelessly given their time as well as funds for this purpose.

Others are involved in rescuing animals from Puppy Mills.  Some Pet Stores purchase pups from brokers that deal with breeders who breed dogs for the express purpose of "profit".  Did You Ever Wonder Where Your Dog Really Came From?  I Did!  This moving story by Kim White shares her own "Rescue Angel" drama and the rescue of Westies from a PuppyMill.

6.  Westies With Atopic Dermatitis!

The Canine Health Foundation of the AKC is funding a study at North Carolina State University with dogs that have Atopic Dermatitis (AD).  Especially common among Westies, it is a condition that makes the dog miserable.  If you have a Westie that has AD, you may be invited to participate in the study.  Down South Westies has been very blessed with a very healthy breedline.  We have been invited to participate in order to present a healthy breedline for study along with affected Westies.  Maybe our dogs can help in the study to isolate the gene that causes AD.  If you would like to participate, contact me and I will see that you get the necessary forms.  There is no charge for the study.  You may be asked to go to your vet for your dog's blood work.  This study could prove to be very helpful to those bloodlines that are affected by allergies.  I would like to encourage you to participate.  Let me hear from you by contacting me at .
