A few weeks ago a friend was whining about losing his hard drive and some very important files. He didn’t have a backup! This guy is a retired high-ranking military man and he has more on the ball than to lose files. But they are gone – forever!

Every year, 43% of computer users lose irreplaceable files. And over 300,000 laptops are stolen annually. So much can go wrong — whether it's a hard drive crash, theft, power surge, natural disaster, or accidental deletion.

Backing up your files is essential, and there are many ways to do it. But what many PC users don't realize is that there's a huge difference in the effectiveness of different backup methods.

Take CDs, DVDs or external hard drives for example. If they're stored on the same site as your PC, they're subject to the same risks — such as fire or theft — and can just as easily be lost. So you're not completely protected. Fortunately, there is a better way.

Off-site backup is best. Specifically, Carbonite gives you private, remote file backup at its secure data centers, so if something happens to your PC, your files remain safe and easily accessible.

I have used and recommended Carbonite for over two years. Just last month when we were in Barbados for a mission trip, when I got home, I received an email from Carbonite saying that it had been over 7 days since there had been a backup. Of course, my PC was shut down while away. Just another reminder to me that Carbonite is a sure-fire way for me to be sure I have all my files backed up.

Are you at risk of losing irreplaceable files? Onsite backup is not enough. Choose the Carbonite Online Backup Service!
