Down
South
Westies
Home of
Beautiful, Loving, West Highland
White Terriers
In Memory of
Cordy
On a beautiful
Friday morning, our daughter,
Michelle, was on her way to
take her daughter, Montana, to
school. Montana was seated in
the back seat and they talked
back and forth without realizing
that Cordy was eating gum
sweetened with the artificial
sweetner, Xylitol. That was
Friday. She died at the
emergency hospital late Monday
night.
Cordy was
always the one to get into
things that the others
ignored. We felt it
important to remind you that
the sweetner Xylitol is
definitely deadly to dogs.
After 4 nights in the
hospital, constant IV's, she
began to experience kidney
failure and finally Michelle
had to let them put her to
sleep. It was a
gut-wrenching experience.
Just a
reminder to be aware of the
dangers of certain gum and
candy with Xylitol.
Check out the heart of a 6th
grader . . .
Montana's farewell to Cordy!

My Westie Has Diarrhea - I can hear his
stomach making noises!
Can Pumpkin Help?
At what point
should you get concerned when
your Westie has diarrhea? As a
general rule of thumb, if there is
blood or mucous, there should be
concern. If there is a lot of
straining and there is liquid
shooting out, this can dehydrate
your Westie quite quickly . . .<<MORE>>

Do
you have a Down South Westie?
We have been asked by Picthall and
Gunzi
Publishers to provide some puppy
pictures for a new children's book
they are publishing. We are
providing several pictures, but also
wanted to give you opportunity to
participate. If you have a Down
South Westie pup and would like to
submit a picture to me, follow these
instructions:
-
The photo
must be emailed in .jpg format
in its original camera shot - do
not reduce the pixels, nor crop.
-
The photo
will be credited, "Down South
Westies".
-
The cuter,
the better chance of getting
into the book.
-
Unsual poses, both posed and
action . . . but with a good
view of the facial features.
Fill out this
form and attach your photos
There will be no compensation for you
nor me, just an opportunity to show off
a Down South Westie. If your photo is
chosen, it will be highlighted in the
WestieGram. |

Great Response to Flint River
Ranch Dog Food
Several
Westie lovers have already
ordered
Flint River Ranch Dog Food.
One Pomeranian breeder says
her dogs love it. One
Cavalier King Charles owner
says he dances around
waiting for his meal. It
appears to be a very good
natural food and we have
really been pleased. It is a
little pricey, but it does
not have all the
preservatives, chemicals,
and dyes that the store
brands have because they
have a shelf life of 12-14
months. Flint River Ranch is
delivered to your door,
straight from the ovens. The
cost of 20lb Lamb Meal,
Millet Rice Dog Kibble is
$41.18 (tax and shipping
included). I would
appreciate it if you use
Distributor #123045 when you
purchase.
Please give us feedback
on how your dog is adjusting
to the change.

Three Great Ways to Enhance
Your Dog's Diet

What would happen if
you lost your hard
drive today? Do you
have a daily back-up
plan to maintain
peace of mind that
all of your files,
photos, emails,
financial files,
etc., can be
retrieved?

A few years ago
I purchased an external
drive for a daily
back-up. After several
months, the automatic
back-up feature stopped
working and then I would
often forget to manually
back-up. After some
time, I discovered that
my back-up drive was not
working properly and if
I had really needed it,
I would have been
devastated.
A couple of years
ago I started using
Carbonite for my
off-site back-up.
Even if my laptop
was stolen or if my
home burned, I would
have a back-up.
Check out Carbonite.
The cost is only
$54.95 annually.
